I thank :iconnyx-valentine: thousand times for choosing this as a DD.
Its really a honor.

To the picture:
I bought the octopus at a local fish market and after the shooting we threw it into the river.
First I wanted to eat it after the shooting but it was really really hot and we had concerns about food poisoning.
But I really think the fishes in the river had a good meal.
So as far as I am concerned, we were not wasting an animal or food.
It makes no difference who ate the animal in the end.

This is stunning and completely worthy of its DD. I love the textures of the octopus over the smoothness of skin and the way the lighting effects both of them. Besides being ultra-creative and unique it is visually captivating and well executed. Bravo.

Art is in the eyes of the beholder. If you don't like it, instead of being angry or trying to discredit creativity, move on to find something you appreciate.

Im by no means a pro so I dont think i can make any comments on the technical photography side of this thing but I like this image. Its repulsive, thought provoking and kind of gripping. Isnt that why people do art? Even if its not technically perfect isnt that in itself part of the whole idea of art? Isnt the fact that it brings people to the point of arguing part of this whole game?

I am honestly curious why people dont like this one. Please be constructive.

I can think of sushi perhaps. Now, is it artistic...? Well that's up to the viewer in my opinion. Then again art of this nature has become prevalent in today's culture. The majority finds it intriguing while others try to decipher it as an art form. Who's to judge...? In the end is all subjective.

Feel free to do so.  I look forward to seeing what you come up with.  I hope that you do not have to deal with people like you commenting should you ever receive a DD for it, or anything else.  In the future, if you have a concern with what I'm featuring, please feel free to address it to me personally, rather than leaving multiple, rude comments all over the poor artists page, who after all, had nothing to do with my selection.

I've seen some of the answers you make to comments against this work, and given you invite in all of them to adress the issue with you, I hope you can answer my question: why do you consider this worth of a DD? Because "I have a huge love of octupus images, and this is one of my favorite in the genre!" doesn't have an artistical weight in it, it sounds like a supportive argument of "ass+octopus=DD" that some people are seeing in this photo.

My intention is not attackintg you, I won't even comment if I like this or not, I just want to know your reasons for giving a DD to this because it has become a polemic work and because I have not found a real artistic argument about why you consider it worth of a DD, and this may be the origin for all the drama.

You missed a part of that -address them to me personally, and not on the artists page. Its rude, and I won't engage in any further conversation with you on the subject here. If you wish to have a respectful conversation, feel free to note me.

No, and this answer shows how rude you really are. I'm talking to you here because the problem is in this deviation, with a topic that IS PUBLIC. If I note you, it will lost its meaning.

I'm ok with not engaging any further conversation, finally is not really important, the fact that you are childish and don't have arguments supporting your choices have been made very clear already.

The compositions and contrast is done very well.  I will say this reminds me of the time I stepped on a jelly fish.  I wasn't stung but it was the grossest feeling I've ever had on my foot.  I can still feel it 10 years later.  *eww*  So I can imagine what this would feel like, and would probably gross me out worse than the jelly fish.  The model has a very nice backside as well.  Also, side note.  I love your icon of kermit!

i think that this is beautiful and very interesting and i wholeheartedly disagree with the comments below saying that this shouldn't be a DD.

i'm glad this got a DD. i personally feel very lucky to have had the privilege of viewing an image like this, and it strongly reminds me of another gorgeous photo of a model with a snail on her mouth that also got a DD. i won't lie; for both photos i thought "gross, whaaaa..?!" but after looking over both of them and asking myself what it was i disliked, i realised that besides the possible "eeww" factor, both photos were/are pretty intriguing in terms of content, composition, light, colour and texture.

art is art and there is no reason why any other artist should take issue with any part of the human body being displayed as such. if they do have such issues, they need to turn on dA's maturity filter and try to grow up a bit. and maybe possibly ease up on the porn/hentai to get their minds out of the gutter.

See, here is the thing. This takes ZERO talent to create, is not artistically engaging, doesn't have a center other than an anus and lacks any real quality of a defined and valued piece of art. I have no problem with nudes, I just disagree that a shoddy photo of an octopus on some chicks ass is worthy of a DD. Your assumption that people having their minds in the gutter is the problem makes me laugh. Maturity isn't a problem here, many mature people have stated much the same as I have.

How is having an octopus on someones butt even remotely intriguing. Composition is horrible, light and shadows are decent and the grainy texture is reminiscent of an old webcam self shot photo.

The absolute only thing this photo has going for it is the shadows. The shadows are well played, and contrast is very good. But any kid can edit contrast with photoshop, which is pretty much exactly what it looks like has been done here. As was once said before, popular does not equal good.

Glad you found something you like about it, but sad that you think it deserves a DD. That is how badly DD has fallen from the old days. It's treated as a sticker on a test, when in truth it's meant to grant renown and recognition to those that actually deserve it.

I didn't have a problem touching it, i liked that feel.  It was when i tried to pick it up that I had the issue.  I think because i expected bone to be beneath that skin and there isn't any.  I ended up just rinsing in the pot and dumping on the model lol cause i just could NOT pick it up.

sometimes even the gross things can have a certain beauty, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  I do agree this piece does have a certain "eww" factor, but he composition is done very well.  The subject matter is different and it makes you feel something, even though that something is "eww" and "gross".  Sometimes the point of art is to make the viewer feel something.
